Leadership Skills

Throughout my whole life, I have been thrown into leadership positions in many situations. In football, I have played quarterback for my entire life. From a young age, being placed into this leadership role made me proud and excited to be who I am. I have led players and teams to many victories over the years, as well as handled plenty of off the field issues as we all became older. On the field, I have controlled the game, calmed others down in times of distress, and ultimately handled conflict to the best of my ability.

Additionally, being the catcher on baseball teams all my life placed me in another position to lead individuals on the field and promote teamwork and camaraderie. Overseeing all of the operations during a baseball play and directing others where they needed to be were crucial aspects to this position.

Lastly, I played point guard in basketball all the way up through high school. Once again, this put me in a position where I would initiate plays, pass the ball to people in position to score, and simply be a floor general, in a sense. In every sport I have played, my leadership skills were noticed and put on display in a team environment, which in the end led to plenty of successful times.

Teamwork Skills

Attending Muhlenberg College has tremendously improved my teamwork skills, from both an academic standpoint, as well as an athletic standpoint. College yields so much more time on your own than high school, in free time terms, that is. Despite that, there have been numerous different classwork activities in which we are required to work in teams. Typically, I prefer to complete coursework alone, however sometimes in business or life setting, being alone is not attainable or practical. I am normally not afraid to spark conversation and get the pot stirring for ideas.

On the athletics side of things, living with and being around teammates every single day on or off campus creates one of the strongest teams or bonds that can be developed. From my early days on campus, I blended well with many of the guys on the team. During contests or even on any given weekday, it takes a team to stay the course and to keep the end goal in mind, which I have promoted and abided by since meeting my teammates. That being said, I would imagine that being put into a team type setting within a work environment would be easy to adjust to quickly since I have always adapted to changes in my surrounding very well.

Given my strong background of teamwork since a very young age, I believe in myself to be a part of a productive team, and eventually lead a team of my own in the workforce.

Problem Solving Skills

Problem-solving has become one of the most valuable tools in my personal and academic growth. I’ve learned that every challenge, big or small, presents an opportunity to think critically and push beyond surface-level solutions. Whether it’s navigating group dynamics in a class project or managing a heavy workload during a busy week, I’ve found that staying composed and approaching issues with a clear head leads to the best outcomes.

At Muhlenberg, I’ve been placed in situations that didn’t always have a textbook answer. I’ve had to step back, ask the right questions, and evaluate situations from multiple perspectives. I’ve become more comfortable admitting when I don’t know something, because I’ve realized that asking thoughtful questions often opens the door to better solutions.

In group settings, I often take on the role of organizing thoughts and guiding conversations toward action. I’ve learned to listen first, then offer ideas that move us forward. Problem-solving, for me, is about staying curious, thinking with intention, and trusting that with enough effort and collaboration, a path forward will always show itself.
